Dr. Raquel Fontanez

Dr. Raquel Fontanez was born and raised in Puerto Rico and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico. She then received her Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine.

After her dental school training, Dr. Raquel moved to New York City, completed her general practice residency, and was accepted into the Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Program at Bronx Care Health Systems.

Her strong passion for orthodontics motivated her to pursue post-graduate training–she then completed a fellowship in Craniofacial and Surgical Orthodontics at Jacobi Medical Center.

Dr. Raquel was always interested in the field of Orthodontics because creating the perfect smile is like solving a beautiful puzzle! She is a dedicated and passionate orthodontist who enjoys creating awesome smiles that positively impact her patients’ lives. Dr. Raquel is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists.


Dr. Joshua Rothenberg


Dr. Joshua Rothenberg graduated from Binghamton University. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and orthodontic training from New York University. Dr. Rothenberg is a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Rothenberg is dedicated to maintaining a reputation of excellence in orthodontics and maxillofacial orthopedics and stays current in all the latest techniques. He has lectured on orthodontics and Invisalign®. Dr. Rothenberg will also soon be joining the staff at Mather-St Charles Hospital, in the dental department.

Dr. Rothenberg lives with his wife Abbie and sons Ethan and Zachary on Long Island.


Steven S. Schwartz, D.D.S., M.M.Sc.

Dr. Steven Schwartz grew up in Port Washington, L.I. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Buffalo, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from SUNY at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and completed his dental residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Schwartz received his orthodontic training as a Research Fellow in Orthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he earned a Masters in Medical Science and his Certificate in Orthodontics from Harvard University. He recently completed a twenty-eight year career as a lecturer and clinical instructor as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at SUNY at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Schwartz met his wife Amy while at Harvard; besides spending wonderful times together with her, he enjoys playing music (guitar and drums) and hiking and mountain biking with his three sons.

Dr. Schwartz cares passionately about providing the most caring and up-to-date treatment. He continually attends educational programs involving the latest techniques in digital and conventional orthodontics.


Dr. Kruno Tovilo

Kruno Tovilo was born and raised in Toronto where he gained inspiration for Orthodontics during the course of his own treatment at the age of 13. This motivation is what led him to graduate Class Valedictorian at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where Dr. Tovilo was presented with the Alpha Omega Fraternity Award for Highest Scholastic Achievement, as well as induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. He also received the Dentsply International Merit Award for Prosthodontic Distinction and the Excellence in Scholarship Award from the American Academy of Dental Materials.

With a passion for creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Tovilo continued his dental career with Post-Graduate Orthodontics Studies at New York University. During residency. Dr. Tovilo was exposed to a wide variety of dental malocclusions ranging from interceptive-based treatment for children to complex multi-disciplinary and orthognathic surgical adult cases.

Upon completion of the program, Dr. Tovilo returned home to Toronto having passed both the American and Canadian Dental Licensing Board examinations and was granted fellowship as an Orthodontic Specialist by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Dr. Tovilo is in private practice in both the Toronto and New York City areas for the past 25 years. He is an International Scholar at New York University and lectures to both incoming residents and Orthodontists worldwide on Orthodontic Interactive Self-Ligation Biomechanics, Craniofacial Growth Remodeling and Neuromuscular Activity. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family with interest in activities such as swimming, biking, hiking, skiing, hockey. tennis, soccer and travel. Dr. Tovilo truly enjoys improving your smile and looks forward to meeting you and your family towards this journey.
